Ixia, Ialissos, Filerimos and Treis
Ialissos or Trianta is the home land of the famous Olympic athlete and winner Diagoras. Its prehellenistic name indicates its very ancient history. Minoans and later on Myceneans merchants stayed there and built a very large city. Later on The Dorian inhabitants of Ialissos ruled over all of the northern part of Rhodos island and created the strongest city-state of the island. The ancient acropolis on mount Filerimos was used by the Knights of St. John and the Byzantines.
